Safety and security at Middlesbrough Town Hall
Keeping you safe at our events
We work closely with Cleveland Police and other organisations and have a range of measures in place to ensure your safety and security. These include our highly trained security personnel, bag searches, and extensive CCTV across the town and within many of our venues.
In addition to this we also have other measures that may not be visible all of which are in place to help keep everyone safe at our events and venues.
Our Safety & Security Teams At Events
Our highly trained teams of stewards and events/venue staff work alongside police officers, other emergency services, and event organisers. If you see anything you think may be suspicious, please do not hesitate to report your concerns to one of the team. As these teams work throughout our open events and within our venues, there should always be someone very close by available to assist.
All our events, security, and venue staff have direct communication with each other, with our events control centre, and our CCTV suite in order to help keep everyone safe.
Our events, venue staff, and stewards are aware that not everyone is familiar with Middlesbrough or our venues. Our teams are briefed to keep their eyes open for anyone who may need help or directions, so please don’t be surprised or concerned if a member of the team speaks to you to ask if you need any assistance. They are here to make your experience at our events a positive and safe experience.
At our open-air events you can expect to see officers from both Cleveland Police and our Council Neighbourhood Safety Wardens in and around the event spaces. There’s no need to be alarmed about the officers’ presence. Again, their role is to help all our visitors to our events feel safe and to support our open-air events.
Together, we work to keep our open-air events and our static venues safe and enjoyable for all.
Security Checks
If you’re coming to the venue, please ensure you arrive in plenty of time to pass through our security checks and familiarise yourself with our security information below.
We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the start time of the event for our security checks to take place.
You can help our checks go more smoothly and avoid delays by only bringing essential items to events. Prohibited Items, or items which we think could cause danger or disruption to the event or other audience members will be taken away by our security team. You may also be refused admission, and will not be eligible for a refund.
All personal belongings are the owner’s responsibility whilst on the premises.
Licensing
Alcoholic refreshments are available from our licensed bar, and only alcoholic drinks purchased on the premises are allowed into the venue.
We have a no smoking policy in accordance with the law. This includes electronic cigarettes/vapes.
