FAQs about Middlesbrough Theatre
Bookings
We always send a confirmation email when a booking has been successful.
If you do not get a confirmation email, it may be in your junk or spam folder, or you may have typed your email address wrong.
If the confirmation email still has not arrived 10 minutes after you make your booking, please email boxoffice@middlesbrough.gov.uk. You’ll need to include your full name, the event and performance date you’ve booked, and the approximate time of purchase.
If you need to change the details on your booking, please call us on 01642 81 51 81.
Tickets
We’ll print your tickets the day after you book them, and send them out to you by second class post. You’ll usually get your tickets within 5 working days of your booking.
You can collect your tickets in person at the Theatre Hall Box Office at any time, up to 45 minutes before the show starts.
To collect your tickets, you’ll need to provide the order number from your confirmation email and confirm your address.
If you’ve lost your order number or tickets, you’ll need to prove your identity with:
- a valid photo ID, driver’s licence, or passport
- a bill or statement with your address on
If you’re not attending the event and you’ve chosen to collect your tickets from the Box Office, you can let someone else collect and use the tickets by giving them your order number or contacting the Box Office prior to them attending.
A family ticket is 2 adults and 2 children, or 1 adult and 3 children.
Due to fire regulations, you must buy tickets for all children. We recommend that you do not bring children under 3 to shows, except where the show is specifically suitable for young children. These shows are advised on our brochures and website, or you can talk to our Box Office staff.
If you’re visiting with young children, we have a small area where you can store your buggy and pushchair during the performance. We also have baby changing facilities.
Refunds and exchanges
Contact us for a copy of our full terms and conditions of booking. By making a booking, you agree to these terms and conditions.
Food and drink
The bar is on the first floor, adjacent to the Circle. It offers a range of refreshments including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
The kiosk is on the ground floor, close to the Box Office. It serves cold drinks, sweets, snacks, and ice creams.
Unfortunately the bar on the first floor is only accessible by stairs.
The kiosk on the ground floor is fully accessible. If you cannot access the bar, you can pre-order and collect items at the kiosk.
You are not allowed to bring or consume your own drinks (either alcoholic or non-alcoholic) on the premises under any circumstances.
If you do, we may ask you to leave immediately without refunding your tickets.
Hot food is also banned from the whole theatre.
Bookings for groups and schools
Tickets for school groups
The minimum numbers needed for a school group varies.
It typically ranges from 8 to 10 for smaller shows, and 10 to 15 for busier shows.
We generally have selected dates and shows which have a school group rate, but this varies from show to show.
Most school group rates do not apply during half-term and school holidays. Please contact the Box Office for rates if you want to attend a performance during these times.
Your group will usually be seated together, but if there are a limited number of tickets available for the show, we may need to split your group. We’ll always try to seat your group as close together as possible.
Booking and receiving your tickets
We advise that you reserve your tickets 3 to 4 months before the performance.
If you’re booking for the pantomime, please make your booking well in advance as bookings open during the previous year’s pantomime and tickets sell quickly.
Once you’ve reserved your tickets with one of our Box Office staff, we’ll provide you with a booking form.
You can cancel your reservation at any time before your payment is due.
Once an invoice has been raised or a cost centre code provided, we’re unable to refund or reimburse any tickets.
We’ll provide you with a seating plan on arrival.
If you need your tickets before the performance, please let us know and we’ll send them to you via second class post.
Tickets will be sent to the UK billing address of the credit card used to make the purchase.
Your reservation will automatically be cancelled if you’ve not made payment by the time the payment deadline passes.
If this happens, you’ll have the option of making a new booking, or asking whether your original tickets are still available. We cannot guarantee we’ll be able to fulfill your request.
Tickets are sold on a ‘no refund, no exchange’ basis.
If you’re unable to use your tickets, please contact us as sometimes we may be able to sell them on for you, if the production is sold out.
If we’re able to do this, you’ll need to return the original tickets to the Box Office. We’ll keep £1 per ticket to cover the administration cost of the resale.
On the day advice for school groups
We know each group is unique and has different requirements.
We highly recommend that if you need a risk assessment, someone from your party makes an appointment with us to come along in advance and complete a risk assessment personally.
Make sure that you bring all your tickets with you. You should also have our phone number (01642 81 51 81) with you so you can let us know if you’re delayed.
It’s a good idea to arrive at the theatre half an hour before the show starts, so you have time to find your seats and get comfortable.
