It’s no wonder that Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto has now been an audience favourite for over 150 years – its simply jam-packed with good tunes. Passionate, yearning and a ‘wow’ showcase for any soloist, it’s a guaranteed great start to a concert.
Your evening is rounded off by Schubert’s orchestral masterpiece, his aptly named ‘Great’ Symphony – think blissful slow movements offset by the driving, springy, rhythms of the fast movements. A wonderful end to a special evening.
Concert lasts around 1 hour 50 minutes including a 20 minute interval.
FREE pre-concert talk about tonight’s concert at 6.30pm in the Old Fire Station.
